How Truth Can Set Us Free?

  • Posted by Alf Davis
  • Date July 18, 2015

In Curt Thompson’s book, “Anatomy of the Soul,” the author says “Your brain activity is taking place only in the present moment. There is no “past” as such in this activity.” Thompson says, “Your brain, whether it is remembering the past or anticipating the future, is simply activitating a particular set of neural networks in the present.” [page 76]
Our brain is physical. Our thoughts are passed from neuron to neuron and as such create neural pathways.Given the newly discovered concept of neural plasticity, the doctors now believe that the brain is always changing by the principle of “use it or lose it.”

According to the Hebbian principle: nuerons that fire together wire together. What you focus on expands. These principles help explain why counselling can be helpful. We do not need to be stuck in our past memories or future fears.

When we retrieve a past memory and bring it into our present thinking, it has the chance of being transformed. That is how Truth can set us free.
The Truth, perceived in the present, can create new neural pathways that help us feel better. Hallelujah!
We don’t have to live in the past or worry about the future, because in reality, they do not exist.

All that really exists is what we are thinking “NOW.” Pay attention to what you are paying attention to in your mind and choose to focus on Truth. Joy, peace and freedom will come with it.
