The Four Horsemen of Healing

  • Posted by Alf Davis

After 10,000 hours of counselling Christians, I have come to observe that God, the Shepherd and Overseer of our souls
(1 Peter 2:25), helps us achieve mental heath and heals our souls through four practical processes:

  1. truth
  2. confession
  3. forgiveness
  4. love

When we receive, embrace and accept these four avenues of healing, the soul finds the peace that is beyond understanding.

Here are the four possibilities that exist for each human being:

  1. an eagle – a positive view of God and a positive view of self
  2. a wounded eagle – a positive view of God and a negative view of self
  3. a cool independent cat – a distorted and negative view of God and a positive view of self
  4. a wounded puppy – a distorted and negative view of God and a negative view of self

If you want to be an eagle, listen to God’s truth, confess your sins, forgive everybody including yourself and let God’s love fill your soul. Jesus really did come to earth to free us so that we can effectively serve others in love.

As scripture says, grace and peace be yours in abundance through the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord.

Fear is an imagination, about the future, where God’s Truth is not present.
When you pray, invite Jesus into your fearful thoughts about the future.
Ask Him to reveal his Truth to you related to your specific thinking.
Listen to his Truth. Accept His Truth.
And that specific Truth will drive your fear away.
