I Don’t! Jesus, What Do You Want Me To Do ?
This is the methodology I recommend for overcoming addictions: 1) thought stopping, and 2) replacing the thought with Jesus’ specific Truth.
The way to stop the thought or desire is to first come into agreement with your “I Don’t!” statement.
For example, I don’t drink, or I don’t smoke, or I don’t abuse; etc. I don’t, I don’t, I really don’t!
When you agree with this statement , it has power to stop the desire or thought.
Then, immediately, turn to Jesus, and invite him to reveal to you, in your mind, what Truth He wants you to focus on, and what action he wants you to do.
For example, Dear Jesus, I invite you into my mind. What Truth do you now want me to receive related to my “I Don’t!”?
“If I don’t do that, them Lord what do you want me to do?”
Once you have heard His Truth, then do it. (2 Corinthians 10:5)
Example, I don’t do porn. I don’t. Lord Jesus, I invite you into my mind to replace this desire to do porn with your Truth. What Truth do you want me to receive and what do you want me to do now instead of looking at porn? Lord what is your Truth?
Then listen, and do what He suggests.
When you have had success, take the victory back to Jesus as a thank you prayer. He wants to share your success with you!
Also, when you have had success, share this process with others.
