Feed My Sheep
Feed My Sheep (John 21:17)
The fact is that if you do not feed the body with water and food, the person will die in three to four weeks. The body needs sustenance or it will die.
Scripture provides us with another fact. The mind needs to be fed proper “food” for there to be life and mental health, or it will become corrupted and you will die mentally and spiritually.
Jesus said in John 6:57, “The one who feeds on me will live.” What is this food that our minds need. The answer is “Truth.” In John 8:32, Jesus says, “The truth will set you free.”
Jesus says to Peter in John 21:17, “Feed my sheep.” If the human mind is not fed truth, just as an unfed body will wither, the mind will darken and fall into unhealth.
The principle of the brain is use it or lose it. If the brain is not fed truth regularly, it will lose the truth and fall into the words of the world. The world is living in “The Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil.”
Jesus died on the cross so that believers may eat from the “Tree of Life” again. In the Tree of Life is the truth that will transform our minds and set us free.
The Tree of Life also offers grace, mercy, forgiveness, love, hope, joy and the fruits of the Holy Spirit. Peace of mind is the key to mental health. How do we attain this mental health? By daily using and practicing the words that Jesus has given us. In John 17:8 Jesus says, “I gave them the words you gave me, and they accepted them.”
Feeding on Jesus’ words produces life. How do we know the truth? In John16:12 Jesus says, “I will send the Counselor to you and when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all truth.”
If you want to have the full and abundant life that Jesus promises in John 10:10, then feed daily on Jesus’ words and truth. Develop the neuronal pathways that come from the use of His truth. Allow His truth to nurture your soul and create the peace of God which transcends all understanding and will guard your hearts and minds. (Philippians 4:8)
Words have power. Words are important. The words that you allow to circulate in your mind will either bring life or death. You can choose which words you will feed to your mind.
Jesus says, “I am the way and the truth and the life. (John 14:6) It is His truth that will give you life. Embrace your true self in Christ. Accept the words of truth that describe you as a worthy child of God. Use the loving words from the Tree of Life daily. “I am forgiven. I am loved.” As you feed on God’s truth, your soul will be nurtured and you will experience life. Experience the life that God wants you to have.
